Ava's Nursery

I thought I would share some pics of Ava's nursery. Everything is done, except for one shelf that still needs to be hung.

This is Ava's crib.

Notice the larger mobile. This one is remote control operated. It was a Daddy "must have".

The hanging baby quilt below is actually pieces from Mark's baby blanket when he was just a wee tyke. It's probably hard to see in the picture, but his Grandma actually painted all the little designs in each of the squares. His mom had it reworked into this beautiful hanging baby quilt (thanks to his talented cousin Jennifer).

And here is Ava's dresser. This "Assemble it Yourself" piece of furniture was lovingly nicknamed the "Make as Ass of Yourself" dresser after we realized it would take 1400 hours to put together!

The little rocking chair was a Christmas gift for Ava from my parent's (McGrandma and McGrandpa). Too cute!

Very pretty! I love the quilt. Richard likes gadgets and high tech stuff too. We never had the remote control mobile, but I don't think they had them back then, otherwise, I'm sure Richard would have wanted one.

Yes, I must not let Trey see this, for fear that I, too, will have to have a remote controlled mobile! Trey wanted one of those camera/tv monitors SOOOO bad when TJ was a-coming!

I like the quilt, too. Don't you just love all that sentimental stuff like that? I wonder if Trey's mom has any of his baby stuff for sentimental sake? I should ask her...

So, how's being off work going for you?

A Busy box. You must get a busy box for the crib -- eventually of course. Butterfly loved hers -- would wake up and play with it for a half hour and let us sleep some more. Not Lady Bug. She jsut wanted her folks -- right away, if not sooner.

I am so glad I got to see it in person. It's a great room. I wish my house looked half as good.

Christi, being off work has done wonders for my energy level and mood. Not commuting alone and having a chance to take a snooze are exactly what I needed. I'm still keeping busy with little projects around the house, but trying to get some rest is definitely top priority right now (well not RIGHT NOT obviously...my hourly nightly pee got the best of me tonight and I am now officially awake) :(

AC: I have never heard of a busy box...what is this magical baby toy you have described that may lead to extra sleep time?

I think a busy box is this toy that has many different little gadgets (like turn the knob w/colors, push the honker button, little rattles that you can spin, etc.) on it that you can hang on the side (inside) of the crib for the baby to play with. I remember them from when I was little (why?), but I don't know that I have seen one in forever. I think you have to buy ten toys to get the same thing. I would like one if they still exist, though.

I had a couple of the busy boxes when Andrew and Alison were little, and our church nursery had a bunch too. I got mine at the thrift store, but only because I'm too cheap to buy things new. Do they not make them anymore? Those things are great. It's hard to believe. I found one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19069&item=5968659077&rd=1

I found one that was vintage '70s, and I remember playing with that one!

Ummm, Karla, this post is from Wednesday. Are you having a baby right now? Did you already have her? We need constant input from you to make sure we aren't missing something!

You're right, Christi! Karla, Mark, where are you?

At 11:19 PM, Blogger Christi hollered...

Now I'm beginning to get a little worried. I can't get Mark's site to come up, either. So I don't know if he's still posting or not. I wrote to Karla the other day, and she hasn't written back yet. I hope I didn't run her off or anything. They promised we would hear something if something happened, so this is not feeling cool now. I hope nothing is wrong...POST DAMMIT!
